Color, Type, & Layout: Graphic Design Best Practices

Choosing the right color, font, and layout can be a massive task for someone with little to no graphic design experience. It’s so common to work hard on creating a design only for it to not look how you expected when it’s done.

Having a general understanding of color theory, type pairings, and layout design can help you tremendously. So, are you ready to cure your design woes?

If you are looking for help with designing your marketing materials, this tactical series is for you. The program runs live every Thursday during the month of February. The recordings will be available through March 24, 2023, so you have time to watch and rewatch any that you miss.

Live Classes. Unlike many other marketing curriculums, Color, Type, & Layout: Graphic Design Best Practices is taught live. What makes that special is the community of marketers who join our Classes. When you ask questions, you’ll find a dynamic group of people there to contribute answers and ideas to the discussion. And if you need more help on the topic, you can email us after class. If you can’t make classes live, with the course you get access to watch the recordings through March 24, 2023. Individual classes include a 30-day replay period.

Nonprofits Only. You won’t get case studies from Apple or examples from Walmart. We teach from the perspective of attracting nonprofit audiences like donors, members, visitors, students, alumni and volunteers. Our interest is in helping you build a community that takes action.

We’re not teaching marketing — we’re teaching nonprofit marketing. This isn’t a generalist program. Whether it’s core skills like graphic design and copywriting, channels like email and social, or development communications sessions like annual appeals — our classes are tailored to the needs of a nonprofit marketer. And that doesn’t just mean our subject areas. We teach from the perspective of attracting nonprofit audiences like donors, members, visitors, students, alumni, and volunteers. Our interest is in helping you build a community that takes action.

Ideas for all budgets and any software. We know that some organizations have staff, structure and budgets to do big things. And that others are piecing together a patchwork all on their own. Our classes are software agnostic. We’ll show you how to be successful regardless of your tools and resources.

Learning takes time. These are not sales webinars masked as education. Classes are typically 90 minutes. We know that time is your most precious commodity. Classes are fast paced and full of ideas and information. And we’ll leave you with resources and tools to continue the work on your own.

Join the series for access to the recordings of each Color, Type, & Layout: Graphic Design Best Practices until March 24, 2023. You’ll build an understanding of how to use color, type, and layout to your advantage. And as a bonus — you’ll get access to Ask the Art Director.
